Treatment of Vascular Lesions
Our Vascular Lesion Laser treatment is designed to treat spider veins, rosacea, port wine stain birthmarks, and strawberry marks (also known as strawberry hemangiomas.) Our treatment is safe and effective because we selectively target and treat only the blood vessels that make up the vascular lesion without adversely affecting any of the surrounding tissue. More specifically, the light of the laser is selectively absorbed by blood and pigment, allowing the light to pass harmlessly through the skin, and gently warm and destroy the targeted vessel.
Improvement from the treatment is typically gradual and optimal results can take up to eight weeks. During the treatment, anesthesia is not required, but patients will feel a hot and tingling sensation during the treatment that is well tolerated. Complications from the procedure are very rare. In less than 1% of cases skin lightening of darkening may occur. It is advisable however to wear sunblock when in the sun during the month following laser treatment.
Typically, most results from the treatment are obtained in the first treatment, but additional sessions may be required to achieve desired results. The treatment will typically take about 20 minutes, and the treatment can be performed on all areas of the body, with most people having treatments performed on the face and legs. After the treatment(s) are complete, you can expect the vessels to be permanently treated, as destroyed vessels should not re-appear.
