Laser Skin Resurfacing

Experience smooth, healthy skin - again! Laser skin resurfacing offers a way to reverse the effects of aging and exposure to the elements on your skin. This modern technology helps your body create new, healthy skin for a younger appearance.

What is Laser Skin Resurfacing?

Laser Skin Resurfacing works by removing dead or damaged skin cells in the treatment area with a laser beam. The laser is chosen so that only the dead or damaged skin cells absorb the heat from the laser and are removed. With these skin cells removed, your body creates new, healthy cells to replace them. Lasers are particularly effective at this exfoliating procedure because they can treat many deep layers of skin without damaging healthy tissue. This makes the effects last much longer than alternative methods.

Besides improving the overall tightness and evenness of your skin, Laser Skin Resurfacing can help with:

  • Wrinkles around the mouth
  • Sun-damaged skin
  • Wrinkles around the eyes
  • Loose and wrinkled skin on the upper eyelid
  • Brown spots
  • Facial scarring

The procedure and recovery

Laser Skin Resurfacing is a safe, outpatient procedure that has been successfully performed on thousands of men and women each year. The procedure generally lasts between 30 to 90 minutes, and involves carefully passing a laser back and forth over the treatment area. Local anesthesia is often used in conjunction with orally or intravenously-administered sedative medication. After the procedure, a sterile dressing is applied, which is removed after 1 to 3 days. The treatment area is then cleaned 2 to 5 times a day until the area has fully healed, usually between 1 to 3 weeks after the treatment. A pink to red color may persist for 2 to 3 months (very rarely up to 6 months) after the procedure, but this can easily be masked with makeup.
